John Avenson
Vice President Information Technology

John Avenson who begins his 17th year with the Twins in 2010, was named Vice President of Technology on December 22, 2006.  Prior to being named to his current position, Avenson served as Director of Baseball IS/Network.  John oversees and manages the purpose of technology for all disciplines of the organization. 

Maintaining a close relationship with the Baseball Department, he wrote the application the team uses for Scouting and Player Development.   Avenson also wrote the fan based ‘Twingo’ application that has been adopted by many other Major and Minor League teams.  Building on his broad experience with the unique systems the Twins depend on, Avenson has played an integral part in the planning and implementation of innovative technology in the new ballpark.

Prior to joining the Twins, Avenson served with the Unites States Marine Corps where he maintained aircraft information for RF-4B and F/A-18 squadrons.  A graduate of the University of Minnesota with a degree in Computer Science, Avenson and his wife Katie, along with sons Perry, Simon, and Sidney; and daughter Lucy reside in Minnetonka.
